Maurice Critchley, President and CEO, Severn Glocon Group PLC
Maurice acquired Severn Instrument Co., a UK-based manufacturer of cryogenic control valves in 1989, and formed Severn Glocon Group PLC. (SGG)
SGG supplies safety critical valves for the water, oil, LNG, power and gas industries from four manufacturing centers in England, India and China. SGG employs 870 full-time staff, and 2013 sales revenue was $165 million.
Growth was accelerated by strategic acquisitions of UK firms specializing in subsea and butterfly valves. This diversification enhances the scope of the Group’s British engineering and manufacturing capabilities for the global oil and gas industry.
SGG acquired Ionex in 2011, and became the majority shareholder.
Maurice is currently a director of 18 UK and overseas companies, with 14 sales offices in international locations and 7 service centers in the Middle East and Far East.
SGG was honored twice with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise and International Trade. http://www.severnglocon.com/news/severn-glocon-group-in-second-queens-award-win
Mike Waite, Founder & Director of Technology
Mike established Ionex Limited in 1999 to develop technologies to treat drinking water contamination. Working initially with the UK Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water, Mike developed an innovative near-zero waste nitrate treatment method.
Ionex Limited was acquired by the Severn Glocon Group in 2011 and re-launched as Ionex SG (part of the Severn Glocon Group). Mike has an extensive process development and engineering career in waste reduction on water, nuclear and specialist industrial chemical applications.
Before Ionex, Mike worked with Bradtec, an equipment specialist in nuclear decontamination technologies for the nuclear industry. He developed methods and equipment to reduce radioactive waste volumes from decontaminating components used in nuclear energy generation applications, and in remediation technologies providing solutions for radioactive contamination in soils and water. Prior to Bradtec, Mike was a Project Engineer for the UK Atomic Energy Authority in Oxford.
Mike earned a BSc. (Hons) degree in Materials Science from the University of Manchester. He holds multiple European and US patents.
